Who says I am not a happy person?

I noticed that when you are undertaking a new way to see life, unfortunately there will be those that have opposition to the new you. I don’t know that they are trying to kill your new movement to make your life better, or just to let the air out of your ” lofty tires”. I love that statement that someone “is just keeping it real”. Does that mean that someone is excused to put you in your place, by “keeping it real”. Why not embrace that I am working to make myself better even if you don’t think I am quite there yet? In my life I am not trying to make a statement but rather have subtle changes that can make a difference in a sustained length of time.

I know that seems like a uncalled for rant today, I am just like everyone else that is slowly changing, it is hard for others to pinpoint. I think about when I have changed my outward appearance and many had criticized my decisions, or just ignored it completely. But when I change inside i feel that I may be the only one that knows, but my question is who needs to know if I am happy?

I found my elusive happiness in my life when I changed how I compared myself to others, there are others on my path but no one is going where I am destined to be at the end of my life. When I discovered that those that I was competing against and making myself miserable were going to a different place, my life became so much richer. My only exception to the same destination rule is my wife, we are traveling the same path because we chose each other as traveling companions, but at the end she will be at a different destination as well.

To bring this varied message together, I have learned through my experiences that I may not measure up to someone else’s vision of happiness. That is the cool thing about happiness, is we individually get to decide when we are happy and what it looks like in our own life. Secondly and much more importantly is when I applied the knowledge that we aren’t all on some group trip, we are on a very specialized path that will end up at individual destinations, that made my life so much easier to manage.

Thank You for spending a few moments of your day with me, go out and find your own version of happiness!
