I was out walking my dog early one morning and I was in a different part of my neighborhood and I see a small bus arrive across the street from where I have been walking. I see the driver get out of the bus and he walks up the driveway to the front walk and out from the front door I see a special needs lady emerge. I notice as she walks on the front walk from her home that the bus driver takes her purse, and lunchbag and offers her his arm to help her to the bus.

In a world where the news illustrates that you can’t trust anyone and no one can even be kind to each other, it is refreshing to see a man that is willing to share compassion and respect to his passenger. This bus service is operated as an nonprofit to help those who need some extra attention, and transportation from their front door to their destination.

When we are sure that our communities are uncaring, fast paced, and self indulgent I am proud to have witnessed a moment in time that I will remember as an example of what is really happening in other’s hearts. Maybe this society that we see on TV, where people seem to focus on the very worst in others is not as real as protrayed on the news everynight.
